Balearic bliss

Ah, kids, eh? No matter how ardently you swore they weren’t going to change your life, five years down the line you realise that, actually, life is barely recognisable these days. But, if holidaying on the White Isle is one of those things you’d consigned to those glorious child-free days – along with lie-ins and spontaneous pub nights – we’ve got good news. This month sees one of the most anticipated hotel openings of 2017: a new luxury five-star resort on the shores of Talamanca Bay. Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, promises to offer guests an authentic island escape. Inspired by the colours of the island, rooms are decorated with soft furnishings, natural wood and artisan ceramics; and the floor-to-ceiling windows and open terraces mean guests can wake to the scent of wild jasmine and fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves. Foodies will love the four restaurants on site, serving everything from Japanese fusion dishes, on offer at Nobu; to vibrant Mexican cuisine at Peyote; relaxed, healthy fare, at Celicioso; and delicious fresh seafood at Chambao. While the vibrant pool bar will be the place to hang out at any time – there are no schedules at Ibiza Bay. Then there’s the Six Senses Spa, the first on the island, where signature journeys, anti-aging treatments, innovative fitness workouts and top-notch manicures will be the order of the day. And when they’ve had enough of hanging out in their private beach cabana, guests might choose to pay a visit to Ibiza Town: just two miles from the resort, it is awash with history, food and art (not to mention shopping and nightlife). But what about the kids? Never mind pandering to their desires – with cookery classes and DJ workshops, bohemian foraging sessions and swimming lessons, the Ibizan-inspired kids’ club will have grown-ups wishing once more for the lost days of their youth.

The hotel opens on 30 June. Rates from €490 per night, based on double occupancy (nobuhotelibizabay.com)
