The Fabric team are thrilled to announce our partnership with Kids in Mind, a charity doing vital work for children who’ve fled domestic abuse and are now living in women’s refuges. Together, we’re committed to bringing smiles to the faces of children this festive season, and you can help make that happen.
The Christmas appeal
The festive period is often seen as a time of joy, but for many children, it’s a stark reminder of what they’ve endured. Kids in Mind aims to change that narrative by gifting brand-new toys to children in refuges. What makes this initiative truly special is that the toys are given to the mothers, allowing them to present them to their children. This simple act fosters a sense of normalcy, boosts a mother’s confidence and sense of dignity, and helps strengthen the bond between them.
From now until 31 December, you can support this incredible cause by donating a toy or contributing towards wellbeing sessions via the Kids in Mind Shop. Whether it’s a cuddly toy, an art set, or even funding a moment of calm through therapy, your generosity will directly impact a child who needs it most, restoring a little magic this festive season.
The London Olympia Toy Fair
The Christmas appeal is only the beginning. In January, Kids in Mind takes the stage as the official charity of the London Olympia Toy Fair, the UK’s largest toy trade show. With over 270 exhibitors showcasing thousands of products, this annual event is a wonderland for toy lovers. The highlight? A trolley dash. Taking place on Thursday, 23 January at 3pm, this high-energy event sees Kids in Mind volunteers zipping through the exhibition halls, collecting donated toys from exhibitors. These toys – worth thousands of pounds – are then distributed to children in refuges, extending the festive spirit long after Christmas has passed.
How you can help
Getting involved couldn’t be simpler, and every effort counts. Start by donating a toy through the Kids in Mind Shop – whether large or small, it all helps bring joy to children in need. Another way to make a difference is by spreading the word. Share the appeal with friends, family, and colleagues, and let’s amplify the message together.
If you’re feeling hands-on, why not volunteer for the trolley dash at the London Olympia Toy Fair on 23 January? It’s a brilliant opportunity to dive right in and see the impact of your efforts as you help collect toys that will go directly to children who need them most.
Whether you choose to donate, volunteer, or simply help raise awareness, every action matters. Together with Kids in Mind, we can make this Christmas one of hope, healing, and joy.
