Daniel Galvin, the Next Generation

It’s always a treat to get my hair done. I tend to leave it until it’s looking very two tone, with roots way too dark, so it’s with relief that I step through the doors into the calm environment of the Marylebone branch of Daniel Galvin. One thing I really like about visiting here is the friendly welcome everyone receives, and the fact that the staff seem so content. Most of them have worked here for years, which is always a good sign, and today I’m seeing one of the salon’s rising stars, Colourist and recent graduate, Ava Neville, for the first time. The students are certainly put through their paces, it’s an intensive three year in-salon training course, so I know I’ll be in safe hands with Ava.

Beginning, as all good consultations should, with Ava asking me what I’m hoping for from my appointment, we talk about shades and maintenance and after I mention that I don’t like to colour my very fine hair too frequently, she suggests some different tones of blonde highlights which will grow out gradually, so I should be able to extend times between appointments. The best thing is that no bleach is used, therefore protecting the condition of my hair, but still giving me the golden highlights I’m hoping for.

Ava is a joy to talk to, brimming with positivity and funny anecdotes, the appointment flies by. Ava herself says “I began my working life in musical theatre which gave me an appreciation of the importance of confidence and expanded my creative side. I feel privileged to have completed the Daniel Galvin 3-year in-house intense colour training. Part of this was spent working alongside the salon’s founder, Daniel Galvin OBE. My passion is to greatly enhance my client’s hair, boosting their confidence and making them feel great about themselves.” She’s certainly done that as my hair looks fabulous and I leave the salon with a new spring in my step and confident swish of my blonde hair.
