As someone who tames her wavy locks with heat (and who suffers split ends as a consequence), I was curious to find out how a haircut involving more heat could help solve the problem. So I headed for the Urban Retreat at Harrods to try the new Thermal Cut & Blow Dry. Created by Josh Rees Hole of Harrods Hair Salon Elite Team, the technique uses scissors that are heated to between 110°C and 170°C. As Josh snips away at my frazzled ends, he explains that the heat warms the keratin in your hair, which seals the ends as they’re cut. Josh blow dries my hair and then runs over it again with the hot scissors to seal any remaining split ends. This method of cutting hair, Josh assures me, helps you keep your style for longer and protects it from the environment. It also promotes regrowth and gives hair extra shine.
