Developed in the 1950s by Michel Pistor, a French doctor, mesotherapy was originally used to relieve pain. Now one of the most sought after natural, non-surgical anti-ageing treatments, the procedure enables a bespoke combination of powerful vitamins, minerals, amino acids and hyaluronic acid to be administered to the lower layers of the skin, immediately delivering hydration, while toning and smoothing the surface of skin. I’ve read much about it, but always been put off by the thought of the needles involved. Vaishaly is quick to assure me that though a needle is used, she isn’t injecting in the strictest sense of the word. She uses a process called ‘nappage’, to tap across the surface of the skin with a micro-needle which barely penetrates the surface. Setting my mind at ease, she demonstrates on the back of my hand – it feels like a series of tiny scratches and is totally bearable, though she explains that she will apply numbing cream to delicate areas, just in case.
