The new red

Never mind new year January drudgery, colour connoisseurs Pantone have introduced 2015’s shade of the year, and we can tell you it’s quite the antithesis of the blues. Marsala, taken from the Sicilian wine region is, as the name suggests, a full-bodied earthy red that’s the perfect hue to add a splash of cosy to your home this winter. Of course, this timely announcement gives us yet another excuse to shop those new year woes away, (they do call it retail therapy after all). And so, armed with our trusty Pantone colour swatch, we’ve chosen our top interiors picks that celebrate one seriously plush shade so hot right now it might even go some way to keeping out the frost.

First up, Bonaldo’s To Be bedside cabinets with their cool, mid-century aesthetic come in our favourite new colour, too. Large glass of red and a good book in bed? Don’t mind if we do. £590, Go Modern Furniture

Never ones to miss a trick when it comes to colour trends, it seems Aram got the Marsala memo too with their fun and funky Birdie Piccola table lamp. £240. Actually,
can we go as far as to say Marsala is the new black? We can when it comes to this little hottie of a wood-burning fire from Ludlow Stoves. £1,599

Farrow & Ball’s leafy and lovely wallcovering Feuille is just the tonic for January’s harsh wintry weather. But with hand-crafted papers this pretty, F&B are welcome in our homes year round. £95 per 10m roll

And where better to kick back and relax with a well-deserved glass of vino of an evening than in the voluptuous Dita sofa from Christopher Guy. Chin chin! £7,849
