Countdown to Clerkenwell

If you’ve yet to experience the delights of Clerkenwell Design Week, may we suggest you head over to their website, register for free entry, print out your e-badge, and get excited. Here’s why:

After four incredibly successful years, CDW is considered to be the UK’s leading independent design festival, which boasts over 60 showrooms, a host of creative small businesses, super talented designers and apparently, more architects per square mile than you can shake a stick at. This is one creative hub not to be missed – think three days of talks, exhibitions, workshops and open-door showrooms celebrating the very best in contemporary design. And excitingly, there’s less than two weeks to go.

We’re looking forward to famed furniture brand, Thonet making its debut at Clerkenwell with a stand at Detail. The brand will be showing new tubular steel products from the 2014 collection. We’ve had a sneak peek and adore the sleek simplicity of this 1200 desk in yellow (above), with a classic Thonet S43 chair.

Also showing will be iconic British brand, Anglepoise, who’ll be launching an exciting new collaborative design, that’s very hush hush. We reckon if it’s anything like the new collections showcased at Light + Building in Frankfurt last month, we’ll be in for some chic lighting solutions that don’t stray too far from their design classic.

And while we’re on a lighting tip, Another Country will introduce American lighting brand, Workstead to Clerkenwell. The Brooklyn-based design studio have come up with a stunning range of pendants and floor lamps, which complement Another Country’s unique take on contemporary craft furniture perfectly.

Of course, there’s so much more to explore at CDW, which runs from 20 to 22 May including fringe events and food & drink. Best getting planning your route
