Britain's got interior design talent

Of course we all strive to create the perfect pad but there’s something about the kind of property showroom, cynically interior designed right down to the precise angle of that all-important copy of Vogue that’s been ‘nonchalantly thrown down’ on the coffee table that frankly, leaves us cold. We’re no fools when it comes to recognising homes that are truly lived in, what with our incorrigible real estate fixation that you might have noticed, and call us nosy but we think there’s something rather thrilling about having a good old gander around some real (really real) homes.

It’s no wonder, then that news of this competition got us salivating like the property porn obsessives we are: in the hunt for the UK’s most stunning homes and gardens, Remodelista and Gardenista readers (amateur design enthusiasts and professionals alike) have submitted their home or outdoor design projects for perusal.

The shortlist of eight is dominated by an impressive five London based projects:

  • Openstudio Architects and Kate Monckton Interior Design for ‘Best Office Space’
  • Openstudio Architects for ‘Best Children’s Space’
  • David Rose Interior Architecture and Design for ‘Best Kitchen Space’
  • Donna Aragi for ‘Best Bath Space’
  • Kate Monckton Interior Design for ‘Best Urban Garden’

Voting is open now until the 15 July, so have a pleasurable peek and get clicking.
