The Montague on the Gardens Unveils Two Luxe Summer Series
Words by Isabelle Hartley
Tucked away behind the leafy seclusion of Bloomsbury’s Montague Street lies one of London’s most charming hidden gems: the Montague Street Gardens. This summer, The Montague on the Gardens is unlocking the gates to this private idyll with the launch of the Montague Garden Series – a curated line up of exclusive open-air events in partnership with The Bedford Estates.

The season kicks off with Live Shakespeare in the Gardens on Tuesday 24th June, where guests can sip cocktails and nibble on canapés before settling in under the stars for a magical retelling of Twelfth Night by The Lord Chamberlain’s Men – an immersive, alfresco theatre experience that brings Shakespeare’s vision vividly to life.
On Thursday 26th June, the gardens will pulse with rhythm for Live Jazz in the Gardens – a chic evening of mellow music, complimentary drinks, and serious summer ambience. Known for its jazz pedigree (The Leopard Bar hosts weekend live jazz year-round), the hotel’s taking things up a notch with this open-air celebration.
For those seeking a slower pace, garden picnics and elegant afternoon teas are also on offer – a perfect excuse to while away a sunny afternoon amidst beautifully tended lawns, herbaceous borders, and historic charm.
Meanwhile, just across the terrace, The Montague’s iconic Beach Bar is making its much-anticipated return. Running until 26th September (because we’re definitely going to enjoy a late summer), this award-winning pop-up swaps London grey for island getaway, complete with sand underfoot, tropical palms, and BBQ feasts. With ice cream cones, cocktails served in coconuts, and options for private parties of up to 160 guests, it’s the capital’s ultimate summer staycation.
Whether you’re after Shakespearean drama or barefoot beach vibes, The Montague on the Gardens has your perfect summer moment bottled.
