Alphonso Mango Season at Jamavar

This May, Mayfair’s much-loved Michelin-starred Indian restaurant, Jamavar, will be celebrating India’s adored fruit, the alphonso mango in its signature pan-Indian style.

Bringing palatial India to Mayfair’s Mount Street, the new menu is available throughout May when these delicious Indian jewels are at their ripest. Spread across two floors, Jamavar impresses visitors with its opulent deep-dark panelling adorned with beautiful Indian artworks, brass accents and hand cut marquetry. The menu curated by culinary Director & Executive Chef Surender Mohan will showcase authentic family favourites, combining homestyle cooking and style with dishes like meen manga curry, chandni chow ki aloo tikki, dakshini jheenga and tellicherry pepper and garlic soft shell crab to name a few.

Enjoy alphonso mango in all three courses and luxuriate in the perfect crisp texture for the soft, delicate filling of the Burnt Mango Tart that’s stuffed with mango salsa and mango sorbet or indulge yourself with the smooth, pulpy, juicy texture of the mango platter. Quench your thirst throughout with the wonderfully refreshing alphonso mango lassi cocktail.

Restaurateur Samyukta Nair

To coincide with the new menu, Jamavar will also be transforming its terrace into a mango grove, inspired by the trees at restaurateur Samyukta Nair family home, it marks the beginning of summer days in India. The terrace awning will be transformed into a glorious sunshine yellow, with golden and white striped cushions upon the fret-work terrace chairs accompanied with vibrant linens and soft throws for the cooler evenings.

For those looking to try the authentic flavours of the India’s loved alphonso mango in the heart of London, visit Jamavar from May to experience it for yourselves.
