A homelessness charity close to our hearts, StreetSmart
has raised over £7.4 million since its inception back in 1998 – and ingeniously, they’ve achieved all this with one simple trick. Restaurants up and down the country are invited to add a £1 voluntary donation to diners’ bills throughout the festive months of November and December, making it incredibly easy for those eating out to contribute, and for participating restaurants to spread the good will, too. And with all costs paid for by sponsors Deutsche Bank, every penny raised goes directly to the homeless. We think you’ll agree, that’s super smart.
This year, StreetSmart have released a poignant – and beautifully shot – short film created by award-winning cinematographer Andy Taylor Smith, with a voiceover from broadcaster Jon Snow highlighting the plight of the UK’s homeless, and importantly, giving them a voice.
