Pup Idol

Calling all pretty pups and dashing doggies: this Saturday, in aid of charity All Dogs Matter, there will be an opportunity for pampered pooches to strut their stuff at dog-friendly Hampstead watering hole The Spaniards Inn.

A panel of celebrity judges including Corrie’s Michelle Collins, Downton Abbey star Peter Egan and BBC London’s Anna Good and Jo Webb, will be awarding coveted Pup Idol crowns in six categories, including Miss Hampstead, Best Dog/Owner Lookalike and – proving you can teach an old dog new tricks – Golden Oldie.

It promises to be a fun day for those on two legs, too: comedian Phil Lassman will be compering, a mouth-watering menu of barbecued gourmet delights – including handmade ribeye and chuck beef burger, and grilled vegetable kebab with sweet potato dip – will be on offer, and an alfresco pop up bar will be serving a selection of beers straight from the barrel and jugs of Pimms. Oh, and early indications show that the sun might even deign to show its face…

Goldschmidt and Howland, and Hair of the Dog are sponsoring the event. All Dogs Matter founder Ira Moss says “We are thrilled to be presenting the fourth Pup Idol, which helps to raise vital funds to rescue and re-home stray dogs. Last year tickets went like hot cakes, so we’re hoping to reach an even wider audience. Book your spot before it sells out!”
