While the mighty England take on Italy tomorrow night in the first of their group stage matches, the anti-footie establishment might be pleased to learn that Saturday 14 June also marks World Gin Day. Drink to forget the football? Maybe, but as far as we’re concerned there’s room enough for Balotelli and a Bijou. It’s the perfect excuse, in fact, to whip up a delicious gin cocktail and impress your World Cup party guests while you explain, in detail, that slippery off-side rule. (Ahem!)
The lovely people at Tanqueray No.TEN (who happen to be launching a brand new bottle), are certainly getting into the (juniper) spirit. Tim Homewood, Tanqueray’s brand ambassador tells us: “For me there is nothing more refreshing than a Gin & Tonic, particularly on a long, balmy summer’s night. Not only is Tanqueray quintessentially British, but its versatility lends itself to the creation of an array of delicious cocktails. From the simple G&T to something heady like a Negroni – there really is a cocktail and a flavour for everyone.”
Here’s a super easy martini recipe to get you started. Chin chin! (Gin gin).
