We’re pretty self-satisfied about living in the best part of London, even at the worst of times. So imagine the levels of giddiness that accompany our love affair with our very own north London villages at this, the most wonderful time of the year. OK, if you’re going to be strict about it, it’s still six weeks away, and the strangely clement weather isn’t exactly adding to the mood. But this Saturday, it’s time to don your bobble hat, get on the gluhwein and banish your bah humbugs: yes, it’s the Highgate Village Christmas Festival.
Rich with the promise of Santa’s reindeer, three kings and their camel, roasting chestnuts, mince pies, and – intriguingly – fairies on stilts, we can’t think of a single event that could be more conducive to Christmas spirit. With all-round cool cat Alex Zane stopping by to switch on the lights the star-spotting box is ticked too, making this a must-do event. We’ll be there with jingle bells on…
The festival takes place in Pond Square, N6 from 4.30 – 6.30pm, this Saturday 17th November
