Following a sell-out run at Hampstead, this infectiously joyous musical sees its well-deserved West End transfer.
Indeed, it brags impressive credentials: the Olivier award-winning musical, written by Tony Kushner (Angels in America) with an inspirational score from Tony award-winner Jeanine Tesori, gives protagonist Sharon D. Clarke a platform on which to shine from the soul.
Set in 1963 Louisiana, with revolution in the air, a poorly paid maid toils endlessly in the sweltering basement of the Gellman household. But with the power of a few extra dollars in her pocket, possibility beckons. Not to be missed.
