As if October wasn’t exciting enough for foodies, this month also sees the opening of the highly anticipated Coal Drops Yard. The Heatherwick Studio-designed shopping and lifestyle district in London’s King’s Cross will open its doors on 26 October, with the reimagined historic buildings and canal-side arches directly adjacent to Granary Square becoming home to over 50 stores, restaurants and cafés.
There’s plenty to get excited about, including Barrafina, Casa Pastor and wine bar The Drop, but it’s Le Chocolat Alain Ducasse that really has us salivating. The shop will be the first permanent base in the Capital for the chef’s signature chocolate brand.
Single-origin and flavoured ganaches, pralinés “à l’ancienne” and luxury chocolate bars are all on offer, with everything traditionally made in Paris, in a workshop at the back of a small cobbled courtyard at 40 rue de la Roquette. Each step of the process is mastered and controlled by Ducasse’s trusted artisan chocolate maker Nicolas Berger, ensuring truly extraordinary results.
