Fly South for the winter

While you might still be preoccupied with thoughts of the beach, now’s the time to start planning those winter trips, not least because time is of the essence if you want to take advantage of this rather special offering from White Desert. Their luxury Whichaway Camp in Antarctica underwent a stunning refurbishment last year, and is now in such high demand that there are only a few spots left on trips this year. To add to the appeal, this coming season sees the introduction of a completely carbon neutral private jet service from Cape Town, South Africa to Antarctica. Run in line with strict ecological guidelines, the first departure is scheduled for November. A Gulfstream jet will fly guests 4,000 km over the incredible icepack of the Southern Ocean before passing into 24 hours of continuous sunshine. On-board catering will come in the form of a selection of delicacies including sushi and Wagyu beef tartare, while cocktails will be garnished with thousand-year-old glacial ice from Antarctica. With one of the most iconic mountains on Earth as the backdrop – named Wolf’s Fang – guests will land on a specially prepared blue ice runway. The fitting start to a holiday of a lifetime.

Prices from $32,000 per person for the 4-day Ice and Mountains adventure. For details and to book, see white-desert.com
